Fun and games – and a good deed

While I was scouring the web for gizmos to enhance our vocabulary teaching I came across this little gem. It’s an interactive vocabulary quiz which donates grains of rice to the poor in third world countries. It won’t change the world, but I daresay it can’t hurt. I’m just taking advantage of my personal soap box to encourage all readers to visit the site and play a little. I’m sure it would be excellent for younger students too – the difficulty can be adjusted as required and the quiz includes some informal American english  – the kind of thing that crops up in films such as ‘cop’ and ‘bozo’.  In addition, the site is attractive and packed with information about the project written in impeccable english.
