Edible packaging

Some clever group of food scientists has really come up with a way of packaging food in a membrane you can eat.  (Can, or could?  Perhaps my use of modal verbs is slipping!)  My source is a website called ‘The Daily Good’ – I don’t just make this stuff up – and this particular piece contains a link to a commercial website which is sufficiently beautiful to warrant my students’  attention.  Not because any of them are brand managers for Unilever or Kraft, but because the product really is fascinating.

The article from the ‘Daily Good’ is here.

The commercial site, which is full of difficult vocabulary, but fantastic pictures and products which folks can narrate for themselves is here : link to wikipearls website

Call me crazy, but I reckon that this subject is not just good for a long discussion about whether we would or wouldn’t use this stuff, or pay a premium for it.  I think that my business students could also write a mean executive summary for this product.  (Previous post – here)  Take the time to brainstorm potential markets and specific applications, and you’ll get a whole session out of it.  Have fun!
