Beauty for Ashes

You don’t have to go far to see that all is not well with the world.  On the other hand, people are really quite amazing.  Time and again we see cases where individuals come through the most terrible abuse and go on to do fabulous things, and become wonderfully positive people.

Today, I’m offering you two articles about little girls who are overcoming enormous adversity.  The first is the case of a survivor of an african war zone adopted by the most incredible people …. read it here.  Amazing.  The second is about a child in Britain who suffered a tragic injury which has left her paralysed.  Tragic, and yet I don’t think it will crush her.  See what you think by reading here.

No tragedy, no triumph?  It certainly seems that way.  Teachers who work with general English may find they can use these come September.  In the meantime, have a good week.
